Intro to Sourdough Starter: A Taste of Tradition
Saturday, March 21 | 10:00 AM
Long before packaged yeast and modern conveniences, Ohio families relied on sourdough starters to make nourishing bread using time-honored methods. This beginner-friendly workshop focuses on the foundation of sourdough baking: the starter, connecting traditional foodways with practical skills still used today.
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to create, feed, and care for a sourdough starter using simple ingredients and traditional fermentation techniques. We’ll explore what a starter is, how fermentation works, and how to keep your starter healthy and active at home.
🧺 Please Note
This workshop focuses exclusively on sourdough starter education. Bread will not be baked during this class.
